Elaine Buck

Elaine joined the DOE Water Power Technologies Office in September 2021. She is responsible for the Systems Design & Validation portfolio of projects, which involve the commercialization of marine energy technologies. Her previous role as Technical Manager at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) based in Orkney Scotland provided extensive experience in the testing and validation of wave and tidal energy technologies. She led the technical team at EMEC involved in the provision of accredited testing, environmental monitoring, metocean data collection, and project/test site developments. She is actively involved at the IECRE and was co-convener of working group 361 responsible for developing the rules and procedures for the recognition of renewable energy certification bodies and test labs under the conformity assessment scheme. She works tirelessly with the marine energy sector to inform the use of standards as part of her new role at DOE.
