1. Policy Influence

NHA actively engaged with the Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, and the White House to ensure that water power was included in the rules and guidance implementing the tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act. These rules will allow for water power's to ensure American energy dominance by lowering the cost for re-powering existing facilities and adding capacity at both existing and new facilities."

Join us for Advocacy Day, where 118 industry leaders collaborated with 111 total Congressional offices across 32 states + DC in ’24. Let’s build on this momentum to ensure our voices resonate on Capitol Hill.

3. Legislative Impact

Our Advocacy Day efforts have led to tangible results! NHA successfully introduced our 3R tax proposal as a bipartisan, bicameral bill, with support of 13 Senators, and a senior Republican on the House Ways & Means Committee. We are positioning ourselves up for success in the 119th Congress where President Trump has indicated that he would like Congress to pursue an extension of the TCJA in the first 100 days.
