Mark Marien

Role: Presenter

Mark Marien has been with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) since Dec 2023. In his current role, he leads the health and safety initiatives for marine operations and testing of the Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO). Specifically focusing on developing health and safety best practices and guidance for developers and testing sites in the research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) of Marine Energy assets in the United States. Prior to joining the WPTO, he was the Director of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental for a leading offshore wind developer in the United States. He has a Doctoral degree in Integrate Health Sciences, a Masters in Project Management multiple Bachelors degrees and is a US Coast Guard licensed Mariner. Mark is a Florida native and enjoys spending his free time in, on and around the water, which drives his passion for renewable energies and the marine environment.
