Meeting Conduct Policy

As a professional society, the National Hydropower Association is committed to providing an atmosphere that encourages the free expression and exchange of ideas. Consistent with this commitment, the NHA’s policy is that all participants in NHA activities will enjoy a welcoming environment, free from unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and comply with NHA’s anti-trust policy. All participants in NHA activities also agree to comply with all rules and conditions of the activities, which are subject to change. This policy applies to all participants in NHA activities, including but not limited to event attendees, students, guests, staff, contractors, exhibitors, and participants in sessions, tours, and other social events of any NHA meeting or other activity.

All individuals must behave responsibly in NHA activities in which they participate. Threatening physical or verbal actions and disorderly or disruptive conduct will not be tolerated. Harassment, including verbal comments relating to gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, age, national origin, gender identity or expression, veteran status or other protected status, or sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unauthorized or inappropriate photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention, will not be tolerated. All individuals participating in NHA activities must comply with these standards of behavior.

Violations should be reported to the organizer of the activity. In NHA’s sole discretion, unacceptable behavior may result in removal or denial of access to meeting facilities or activities, and other penalties, without refund of any applicable registration fees or costs. In addition, violations may be reported to the individual’s employer. Repeat offenders may be banned from future NHA activities.

Liability Waiver + Be Well Agreement

Anyone who registers for Waterpower Week 2024 will be required to agree to the following statement at the time of registration:

“As a condition of my participation in this meeting or event, I hereby waive any claim I may have against the National Hydropower Association and its officers, directors, employees, or agents, or against the presenters or speakers, for reliance on any information presented and release NHA from and against any and all liability for damage or injury that may arise from my participation or attendance at the program. I further understand and agree that all property rights in the material presented, including common law copyright, are expressly reserved to the presenter or speaker or to NHA. I acknowledge that participation in NHA events and activities brings some risk and I do hereby assume responsibility for my own well-being. If another individual participates in my place per NHA transfer policy, the new registrant agrees to this disclaimer and waiver by default of transfer.

I understand that travel and gathering involves risk of sickness, including sickness from COVID-19. I (and on behalf of my guest(s)) waive and release NHA and its sponsors and exhibitors, and their employees and agents, from and against claims, liabilities and expenses arising from injury, sickness or death from contraction or spread of COVID-19 or other communicable disease due to travel to or attendance at an event sponsored by NHA.

I will adhere to all local government safety protocols. I agree to not attend any NHA event if I feel ill or had recent exposure to a COVID-19 case.”
