John Godfrey

John Godfrey is a senior government relations director for the American Public Power Association. John provides advocacy and subject matter expertise on financial issues, including: federal tax, budget, and appropriations policy; wholesale electricity markets issues; and swaps and derivatives. Previously, he served clients in the energy sector while working for tax-focused federal policy consulting firms. John also had an 18-year career as an award-winning reporter, 16 years of which were spent covering the U.S. Congress, the Internal Revenue Service, and the White House. Writing most recently for the Dow Jones Newswires, he provided market-moving coverage of federal tax, budget, and fiscal issues. He earned his BA in Government and Sociology from Oberlin College.
