California's recent marine energy-focused bill passage in October 2023 and New Jersey’s proposed state-level marine energy legislation show a resurgence of state-led incentives for marine energy deployments and development.
A focus during 2024 for the National Hydropower Association and its Marine Energy Council is to develop model state legislation and market mechanisms that incentivize more marine energy deployments.
