Nicole Bouchez

Dr. Nicole Bouchez is the Sr. Principal Economist and also serves as the Consumer Interest Liaison for the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO). She works with NYISO’s market design team to develop market efficiencies that deliver benefits to the consumer sector and in her role as the Consumer Interest Liaison, Dr. Bouchez serves as a key contact for consumer interests, coordinating the NYISO's consumer-related initiatives by analyzing market developments and performing impact analyses of major market design changes. This specific role is unique to the NYISO. Prior to this position, Dr. Bouchez was the Principal Economist for Market Design at the NYISO for eleven years. In that role, she worked extensively on evaluating and designing wholesale energy and capacity markets in New York. Dr. Bouchez’s most recent work has focused on the reliability and market implications of a grid in transition and on integrating wholesale markets with public policy. Prior to that she was the NYISO Internal Market Monitor and Manager of Market Monitoring and Performance. She holds Doctorate and Masters of Arts degrees in International Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Relations from the University of California, Davis.
