Role: Introducer

Dr. Sarah Henkel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology and Associate Director of the Pacific Marine Energy Center at Oregon State University. As a benthic ecologist based at the Hatfield Marine Science Center, her research addresses potential effects of human activities (e.g. renewable energy installations, fishing, invasive species, climate change) on seafloor habitats and species. Since 2010, she has led the planning and execution of environmental research and monitoring at OSU’s PacWave wave energy test sites, including over 100 cruises to the two sites. She received her B.S. from the College of William and Mary, her master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, and her PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Before OSU, Dr. Henkel worked at the California Ocean Science Trust on projects related to invasive species, oil platform decommissioning, and marine protected areas.
