Environmental Justice (EJ) is the fair treatment of all people during the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws in the United States. Environmental Justice also requires decision makers to meaningfully involve all communities in agency decisions, in particular those communities that have fewer access to avenues that can protect them from poor agency decisions.
This session will discuss how agencies are placing a greater emphasis on engaging with these communities to better inform their decision making and how stakeholders (industry, resource agencies, environmental non-governmental organizations, etc.) are included in that process.
